DAVID EVANS CABINET-MAKER

Interested in bespoke furniture? You’ve come to the right place.

David Evans has been making fine furniture for over 40 years. His cabinet-making business is run from his studio/ workshop based in South Norfolk and his commissions for bespoke, built-in furniture are generally in the South Norfolk/North Suffolk area for practical reasons. Free-standing pieces are made for clients much further afield. David specialises in making unique, bespoke furniture and prototypes, made to suit clients’ individual requirements.

David offers clients a complete bespoke design service, from initial consultation, design sketches and drawings, to establish requirements, through to the finished piece of furniture. His design proposals are generally based on a list of options/ alternatives that are designed to match clients aspirations and budget, and are generally very competitive with larger rival firms. With David you are getting a very personal solution, from someone who really understands cabinetmaking and designing to client’s needs.

David’s passion is wood; for its intrinsic beauty, wealth of character,  and the myriad things that can be made from it. For him there is nothing like taking a piece of rough sawn timber, planked straight from the tree, and after the due period of seasoning, crafting it into a cherished piece of bespoke furniture.

“When you plane up a piece of timber you can never be sure what it will reveal. Will it be a nail that was embedded into the tree many, many years ago, that could wreck your plane blade? Or will it expose a magnificent array of medullary rays and figuring? You just never know, and that’s part of the wonder”.

The ‘Portfolio’ section of this website provides an insight into just some of the many projects David has completed over the years, and the Articles pages seek to provide information and advice on a range of topics. We hope to grow this section in the future.
